Kate Lauren Lynch,

Licensed Professional Counselor Associate

Hello, I'm Kate!

I love helping children just like yours with behavioral challenges, anxiety, and ADHD to finally find relief, increase their emotion regulation, and build their self-esteem through play therapy. In each session I work to create a safe space for both you and your child to feel heard, understood, and supported.

Have you noticed your child has been having increased outbursts, restlessness, fear, or constant fidgeting? Is it difficult to calm your child? Are they always needing your attention? It makes sense if you are exhausted and out of solutions. I get it and I can help! We will create your child's treatment goals together!

Why Play Therapy?

Children often have a hard time expressing themselves through their words. Play therapy allows the child to express themself in a developmentally appropriate way. Thus, play therapy helps your child fully express themself through play and finally feel heard. My focus is using evidenced-based interventions specific to your child's age and developmental level. These include child centered play therapy, solution focused play therapy, sandtray, genograms, art activities, emotion exploration, and esteem building exercises.

I understand that you're overwhelmed and have concerns for your child. I would be honored to walk alongside your family during this challenging season. I hold great hope for your family and look forward to hearing from you soon. Call me today so we can get started!

Kate Lauren Lynch, M.Ed., Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and National Certified Counselor, holds a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Colorado, Boulder and a Master of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas Christian University. Her clinical licensure is through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and her Board Approved Supervisor is Meredith A. Ivey LPC-S, CCPT-S, Registered Play Therapist.

Prior to joining Hope Harbor, Kate gained clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and their caregivers through the TCU Counseling Center: Family Resource Center, Carter-Riverside. Kate has also worked in a behavioral health hospital, in addition to working with youth within the local school system, and at STEPS with Horses utilizing Equine Partnered Play Therapy (EPPT) techniques. She works with both client and caregivers to find new tools and a brighter future. Kate excels in highlighting her client’s strengths, identifying meaningful coping strategies, and setting attainable goals.

Kate aims to work collaboratively with both the client and the client’s caregivers to create the best possible results for the system as a whole. She will keep you informed on your child’s progress as they meet their goals from their customized strengths-based treatment plan. Kate’s approaches in treatment are inspired by the work of Garry Landreth, Insoo Kim Berg, Steve de Shazer, and Harlene Anderson.

When Kate is not working with clients, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, their cavalier spaniel named Bear, and their orange tabby cat named Clementine. She looks forward to meeting you and your child and helping them find joy while learning to better handle life’s challenges.
