Mara B. Edmunds, MA, LMFT is a board licensed Psychotherapist who completed a clinical mental health counseling internship with MHMR of Tarrant County. She holds an associate’s degree in behavioral science, a bachelor’s degree in sociology, and a dual-track master’s degree in marriage & family therapy and professional counseling. Her clinical license is through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Marriage & Family Therapists.
Mara’s professional experience includes working with individuals, couples, and families, and facilitating groups and classes for addiction recovery and survivors of trauma. Mara is specialized in treating both PTSD and complex trauma and is passionate about utilizing evidence-based interventions in helping individuals, couples, and families move past some of life's most complicated obstacles.

Mara is trained in EMDR and is also a certified Somatic Attachment Therapist through The Embody Lab. She is also an affiliate member of the Trauma Research Foundation (founded by Harvard psychiatrist Bessel van der Kolk, M.D.), and formerly served on the advisory council for a nonprofit organization based in Boston, MA. Mara is also a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional (CSTIP) through the Integrative Sex Therapy Institute.
Prior to opening her private practice, Mara gained experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, in drug rehabilitation, with veterans and active military, with survivors of trauma, and with couples and families in crisis. Mara's specialization is in treating cases of complex trauma, addiction recovery, and healing wounds of emotional neglect and a variety of relational and attachment ruptures.
Mara's approaches in treatment are influenced by the work of Bessel van der Kolk, Peter Levine, Francine Shapiro, Laurel Parnell, Stephen Porges, Pat Ogden, Joan Borysenko, Dan Siegel, Ruth Lanius, Janina Fisher, Richard Schwartz, Sue Johnson, and John & Julie Gottman.
